Mothers are having a mother out! Do these words mean nothing to you? Honestly, it’s fine.
Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk American Horror Story: Delicate has returned for the second half of its winding season after a brief strike-enforced hiatus. From the beginning the season has made one thing very clear: Men are not shit.
With Halley Feiffer as showrunner and the novel by Danielle Valentine Delicate condition as inspiration, Delicate has marked a couple of firsts in the history of the horror anthology series.
The current season follows rising actress Anna Victoria Alcott (Emma Roberts) as strange events occur during her pregnancy.
Delicate AHS Episode 6, “Opening Night,” begins with a flashback to Anna’s parents. The scene shows the new mother, played by Grace Gummer, without the support of her husband. He complains about the lullaby she sings while she rocks the baby to sleep and then makes comments about her hygiene. During a sleepless night, the husband scolds his wife for coughing and rolling around in bed. Shortly after, he finds her dead from a pulmonary embolism.
As the episode continues, Anna’s husband Dex (Matt Czuchry), already established as a creep, engages in a heated conversation with her father about her mother. Then publicist Siobhan (Kim Kardashian) argues with Hamish, the director of Anna’s film. The authorabout their arrangement, implying that Siobhan pulled strings to get Anna cast.

Messy, messy, messy! And people online took notice. “Dad Dex trash, Dex trash, Dad Anna trash, Dr. Hill trash. What is happening with men? wrote a viewer on Twitter.
“So far, this season has shown me that straight white men are cruel and pointlessly dismissive of women who literally carried their children.” tweeted other. the same viewer theorized that Anna is attracted to Dex because he is “as indifferent and dismissive” as her father.
One third intervened with an epic diss towards Dex’s father: “Well, Dex’s father has been on screen for less than a minute and I already hate him.”
Siobhan sums up the theme of the season nicely in her confrontation with Hamish. The publicist is unmoved when Hamish burns the film’s script because he didn’t write it. She asks him, “Is this supposed to be dramatically compelling?” The director continues her soliloquy and calls her success a “lie,” to which Siobhan replies, “Just like any other mediocre white man.”

Zinger! Soon after, Hamish becomes angry with Siobhan when she threatens to go to the press with her story and ends up dead. Was Siobhan at the crime scene? We suspect it, although nothing has been confirmed. Perhaps that should serve as a warning sign to any man who tries to cross Siobhan, or any other powerful woman.
American Horror Story: Delicate Part 2 It airs Wednesdays at 10:00 pm on FX and the next day on Hulu.
