Canada international Buchanan Tajon says he “can’t wait to get started” at his new club after joining Serie A giants Inter Milan.
The player joined the Italian league leaders on January 5 on a contract until 2028 for a reported fee of €10m ($10.9m/£8.6m).
“Never stop dreaming,” Buchanan told his fans, after signing from Belgian club Brugge, where he spent more than two years.
Buchanan will have watched his new team-mates battle to a 2-1 league victory over Verona on January 6, but he was not ready to be part of the matchday squad so soon after his transfer.

When does Tajon Buchanan debut at Inter Milan?
Buchanan took part in training after signing for Inter, but did not feature in the 2-1 league win at home to Verona on Saturday, when Davide Frattesi scored the winning goal in the 93rd minute.
The 24-year-old had returned to Belgium to obtain the residence permit necessary for non-EU citizens to live in Italy, according to multiple reports in his new country.
Match fitness could also be an issue for Buchanan because he has not played for over a month, having been on the bench or absent from the teams entirely while Brugge negotiated his transfer with Inter.
Supporters are hopeful Buchanan will appear when Inter visits Monza in Serie A on Saturday, January 13 at 8:45 p.m. local time (2:45 p.m. ET).
His debut will be historic because he will become the first Rouges star to play in Serie A. Buchanan says he is “really proud” and rightly describes his achievement as “great.”

How did Buchanan get to Serie A?
Buchanan lived an exceptional time at Syracuse University with the institution’s soccer team, and in 2019 he was chosen in the MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, marking the beginning of his professional career.
At Foxborough, Buchanan thrived, making 67 appearances and scoring 12 goals before earning his inaugural call-up to Canada’s senior team in June 2021. He had previously represented his U23 team at the Olympic Qualifying Championship.
Known for his speed, one-on-one skills and team-oriented approach, Buchanan demonstrated his prowess at the 2021 Gold Cup, helping Canada reach the semifinals and scoring his first goal with the national team.
In 2022 he made the transition to European football by joining Brugge. After winning a league title in 2021/22, he made his UEFA Champions League debut and secured a place in Canada’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar, a momentous event for his country as he missed the tournament. . since 1986.
Buchanan explained what type of player he is in an interview with Bruges when he arrived. “I’m a versatile player,” he said.
“I can play several roles, but my goal is to learn as much as possible, be available for the team and adapt to a new style of play.
“I am a very direct player and I like to go one on one with the defender and operate in the intermediate spaces around the opponent’s penalty area, creating numerical superiority. I played as a right back last season; I can definitely improve in the defensive phase. “

He alluded to how excited he is to share the San Siro atmosphere with the Inter fans. “I honestly don’t know what to expect because I’ve never experienced anything like this before in my life,” he said.
