Once again, the two famous old Merseyside clubs are experiencing contrasting fortunes in the Premier League.
Liverpool are in the middle of a three-horse title race with Arsenal and Manchester City, sitting second on goal difference behind the Gunners with 10 games remaining after a thrilling 1-1 draw with City at Anfield.
Everton, on the other hand, are battling relegation amid off-field turmoil and failing to win a Premier League game since mid-December. With just one win over their fierce local rivals in almost 14 years, this is not a showdown most fans would have been expecting, but a surprise result could help galvanize their survival bid.
The derby at Goodison Park was due to take place on March 17, but the match was postponed due to the FA Cup quarter-finals taking place on the same weekend.
