The much-awaited iPhone 16 series is here and it comes with a bunch of new Apple Intelligence features that you’ll be able to use very soon. So, if you’re struggling to decide whether to upgrade or stick with your trusty old iPhone 14, hoping that these AI-powered features will also come to your device, then I have news for you. We answer in this guide whether or not the iPhone 14 models will get Apple Intelligence features.

Will iPhone 14 get Apple Intelligence features?

The answer is no. None of the iPhone 14 models will get Apple Intelligence features. This includes the base iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Is Apple's AI coming to the iPhone 14? Answered

Don’t let this news put you off, as Apple is limiting its AI features to certain models. Even on the iPhone 15 series, only the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models get Apple Intelligence thanks to the latest A-series chip.

The reason for this omission is the less RAM and an older A-series chipset across the iPhone 14 lineup. Apple Intelligence requires more RAM to perform computational tasks that take place on the device. These are resource-intensive operations, so at least 8GB of RAM is required to run AI tasks in parallel with other processes on your iPhone without compromising the overall experience.

Which iPhones support Apple Intelligence?

As mentioned above, Apple Intelligence requires a minimum of 8GB of RAM, so it will only come to the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models with the iOS 18 update. Apart from these two models, all the new iPhone 16 models that were just launched will support these AI features, including the new Siri, writing tools, notification summary, and more. Apple Intelligence is a massive upgrade, but not so much that it makes your current iPhone redundant. There’s still a lot to look at with iOS 18, like new Home screen customizations, app locking, and Control Center changes. And if you’re still not sure, check out my colleague Kanika’s article, where she explains whether Apple Intelligence is reason enough to upgrade from your current iPhone.
