Heading into the final preseason game of the year, one of the biggest questions surrounding the Denver Broncos has been at quarterback. Will the team retain all three quarterbacks from the final 53-man roster?
Zach Wilson seems to have answered that question with a resounding yes.
Wilson took over shortly after Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. Jarrett Stidham started the game and went on a series, leading the Broncos to a touchdown. Wilson then played the rest of the game and, in a word, was fantastic.
Wilson completed 16 of 25 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns, turning in a dazzling effort that reminded fans why he was once the No. 2 overall pick in the draft.

Wilson made some nice throws and it was obvious he was having fun on the field. Did he do enough to stay in Denver?
Broncos can’t justify cutting Zach Wilson
If you accept that Stidham will be the No. 2 quarterback, there’s still no chance the team can simply dump Wilson after the way he’s played this preseason.
Sean Payton said finances won’t play a role in the quarterback situation and then said he sees all three working out.

He looked out of the running for the starting job shortly after camp began, but he’s recovered and played his best in the team’s three preseason games. Whether the Broncos are keeping Wilson for trade bait or simply to allow him to develop with the team, letting him go in favor of an extra defensive back or special teams player would simply be poor roster management.
Wilson’s upside is considerably higher than Stidham’s, who is, at best, a good backup quarterback. Keeping Wilson around could pay dividends in the long run, greater than any backfield player could in the more immediate future.
The Broncos need to keep all three quarterbacks on the team. This interesting question has become an obvious answer.
