It will be an old-fashioned golden sand showdown in Santa Clara this weekend. Both teams feature solid defensive units along with strong running games on offense. It should be an intriguing matchup for the first time, considering the Lions and 49ers did not play each other in the regular season.
Detroit and San Francisco have only met twice in playoff history: a 24-23 49ers victory in 1983 and a 31-27 Lions victory in 1957.
