Unfortunately, you cannot mark a page that is inaccessible, whether due to a temporary block, a deleted account, or a deleted page. However, there are a few things you can try if the page is up but you’re having trouble disliking it. Do not like non-existent Facebook pages
On Facebook, you can like something someone posted, like a status update, a photo, an app, etc. One notable problem that has existed since Facebook was created is the history of likes on pages you liked that you can’t reject. Sure, most pages I like aren’t nice, but the ones that are no longer available leave their Liked status as a permanent stamp on their profile.
Active Pages allow you to Like and Like as much as you see fit by going to your profile and heading to the “Like” section. You can click the vertical ellipsis (three vertical dots) and select “Dislike” or click the link on the page to open it and click “Dislike.” Unfortunately, dead pages do not offer an option to differentiate them using ellipses or the actual page. 
Additionally, when you hover over the link of an inactive page in your Like list, there is no pop-up window that allows you to click “Like” to unlike it.
So, what can you do to differentiate non-existent pages on Facebook? The answer is nothing. You’ll be stuck with that stamp on your profile forever, at least for now. However, the state “for now” has existed for many years. Obviously, Facebook has no intention of fixing the popular issue or can’t add a feature to the existing code as designed. Therefore, you cannot get a like on a non-existent page in any way. Yes, there are claims that it can be done, but the truth is that they don’t work. More details are available below.
Problems unliking active Facebook pages
Active pages, on the other hand, can occasionally cause you problems, such as when you click “Like” and it goes back to the “Like” status or you can’t change the status at all.
What can you do to fix a dislike changing back to a like status or fix Facebook not allowing you to like or dislike an active page? The answers may or may not work, depending on your particular scenario.
Facebook Distinctions Keep Changing and Back to Likes
In the past, many Facebook users mentioned that they were stuck with a Like on a page and couldn’t unblock it because it reverted to the previous state.
They would click the blue “Like” icon to bookmark the page or post, and it would turn gray but automatically return to a blue “Like” status.
If you’ve been searching the internet for problems with disliking Facebook pages, you’ve probably seen a lot of these comments. Why is this issue mentioned here? This is because the issue primarily occurred during the 2020 transition to a new Facebook page design with new functionality.
Users were caught in an old/new incompatibility issue during the 2020 Facebook update, where some Pages and accounts were on the old system while others were transferred or “ported over” to Facebook’s new design. Don’t let that confuse you into thinking you can unclog your likes based on old comments about these issues. Anyway, no one ever had a real solution.
As for other circumstances where a different state changes to a similar state, there are a few things you can try, although there is no guarantee and it depends on your particular situation. Here’s what you can do to possibly identify the source of the problem and hopefully fix it.
- Try starting Facebook on your mobile phone using the app and a browser. Try launching Facebook in multiple browsers on your PC, tablet or laptop. This helps determine if the problem is a device.
- Try signing out of Facebook from all devices, restart the website or app and check if the issue persists.
- Try scanning devices for malware using various antivirus/malware tools for best results.
- If the Facebook app is causing the problem, try clearing your phone’s storage, cache, and history. Sometimes cache and history cause problems with app actions and functionality, and low space can also affect functionality.
- If the Facebook website (on a browser) is causing the problem, try refreshing the browser or clearing the cache and history. Restart Facebook and log in to check if the issue persists.
Note: Sometimes you try to Like or Dislike a page and the icon doesn’t change. In that case, it often changes on Facebook’s servers and others can see the activity. Your device is not working properly at that particular time.
I can’t bookmark a Facebook page due to a redirect issue
Another scenario where Facebook users were trying to take off their Likes involved redirects when going to the page they liked from their profile. This issue was also part of Facebook’s new design transition in 2020, when Facebook tried to redirect people to the newly designed pages and they received a “Too many redirects…” notification. Anyway, many users also reported the redirect issue as early as 2012, except it was under different circumstances.
For starters, Facebook never allows internal or user redirects in the app or online except when they need them. One exception was during Facebook’s old/new transition of 2020, when page owners were redirected to the new page that failed to load, ending with the so-called “This page is down… Facebook redirected you” notification. too many times…”. That new page layout still wasn’t working properly.
Aside from the previous redirect issue from 2020, those who experienced a page they liked going to a different URL faced browser attacks and malware issues. Even if they deleted the infected files, traces often remained during the removal process or went undetected. Facebook was not to blame. In other words, I wasn’t inside Facebook; It was on your device. Why is this scenario mentioned here? It is important to know this problem because when you search online to clear your likes, you will find it mentioned many times.
Several online responses to Facebook page redirects mentioned tricks to differentiate a page successfully. One notable solution included capturing the original URL during the redirect process or viewing the original URL on the newer page. You will see the original URL and then copy and paste it into your browser. That process supposedly allowed you to make a difference with the page, but it dates back to 2012. The same scenario was mentioned in this article the same year. Obviously it doesn’t work today in 2021 or the solution would still appear here. Facebook does not display a “Redirected from…” URL.
Unlike a deleted Facebook page displayed on your profile
It was mentioned above that you don’t like a deleted Facebook page and no matter what you try, you won’t be able to remove the Like status.
Some Facebook users have tried to find the activity by going to “Connections -> Pages, likes and page interests.” Unfortunately, deleted pages do not appear in that area (tested August 4, 2021), but remain in the “Likes” section of your profile.
Others have tried to remove any other activity from the liked page using their “Activity” menu, but that also does not remove the Liked status of the deleted page.
Using “old” Facebook to mark a deleted page
Another attempt to differentiate deleted Facebook pages involves installing browser add-ons or extensions that change the web page from “New” Facebook to “Old.”
Facebook’s “old” menu allowed you to remove likes from deleted pages. The problem with using a browser extension today is that Facebook, for some reason, makes changes to prevent such applications from doing what they are supposed to do. Seven different “Old Facebook” extensions were tested in Firefox, Chrome and Opera. as ‘Change design to old version for Facebook™,’ ‘Old design for Facebook,’ ‘Old design for Facebook2020,’ and more. No plugin could convert new Facebook to old Facebook. Most editors added comments related to their extension (some worked in 2020) and mentioned that they are working to solve it.
As you can see, there is no possible way (as of August 5, 2021) to remove likes from your profile on pages that are no longer available. However, you can potentially fix issues such as having a “Dislike” status revert to “Like” in certain circumstances. On a final note, there are times when there are server issues or devices malfunctioning and causing issues that you may not be able to fix, such as hack redirects or dislikes not activating.
