Tottenham defender Emerson Royal is set to seal a transfer to AC Milan early next week, according to reports in Italy.
It’s been a month since Sports Gazette He claimed that Emerson had reached a personal agreement with the Rossoneri. Now Tuttosport and Tuttomercatoweb They believe the deal could be finalised within the next 48 hours for a price of around 15 million euros ($16.4 million), plus add-ons of between 1 and 2 million euros.
He represents a middle ground between Milan’s desire to secure a bargain and Spurs’ initial asking price of around €18m.
Emerson, capped 10 times by Brazil, is under contract to Tottenham until 2026. He joined the north London club three years ago during Nuno Espirito Santo’s brief spell in charge and has made 101 appearances, scoring four goals.
The 25-year-old was a regular contributor under Ange Postecoglou last season and even filled in at centre-back during a mid-season injury crisis.
However, half of Emerson’s 22 Premier League appearances in 2023/24 have come from the bench and seven outings after the turn of the year have been scheduled against 11 games as an unused substitute.
Pedro Porro established himself as Postecoglou’s first choice at right-back, a factor that contributed to Emerson missing Brazil’s Copa America squad despite playing 90 minutes in consecutive World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina in late 2023.
