The Golden State Warriors are not going to get their ideal trade package for Jonathan Kuminga. Contract negotiations do not seem to be going well. There are a few teams interested in a Kuminga sign-and-trade. That doesn’t mean that the Warriors are going to get their ideal package, however.
ClutchPoint’s Brett Siegel went over some of the Kuminga trade scenarios and created one proposal that would bring the Warriors a couple of solid role players.
“Here is what this sign-and-trade with Chicago would look like:
Chicago Bulls receive: F Jonathan Kuminga (4-year, $115 million contract with about $24 million Year 1 base compensation) & C Trayce Jackson-Davis
Golden State Warriors receive: G Ayo Dosunmu, F/C Jalen Smith, CHI 2029 1st-round pick (Lottery-protected, becomes two 2nd-round picks in ’29, ’30 if not conveyed), CHI 2028 2nd-round pick”
This might not be the best trade haul, but it might be realistic for what the Warriors can actually get in return for Kuminga. At this point, it doesn’t seem like teams are willing to give up much, and with the base compensation rule, the Warriors can’t take back much salary in a potential Kuminga trade.
Dosunmu is a promising young player. He averaged 12.3 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds for the Bulls last season. He is also a 36.1% three-point shooter. Dosunmu might slide into a solid three-and-D guard role on the Warriors.
Smith is less interesting than Dosunmu, but he could bring the Warriors some size at backup center.
As for the picks, they sweeten the trade haul but don’t move the needle much.

If the Warriors can’t find anything better, this trade package certainly wouldn’t be terrible. Still, the Warriors might be better off keeping Kuminga if all they can get is a trade package like this.
