Silence on the set: The dark side of children’s television has reminded viewers of a questionable sketch by Amanda’s show in which a young Amanda Bynes joins Dan Schneider in a hot tub. Even Everything that Editor Karyn Finley Thompson, who spoke on the Investigation Discovery docuseries, found the scene “a little strange.”
Schneider first discovered Bynes when she was performing at the Los Angeles Laugh Factory as a child. She eventually joined the Everything that chosen before getting his own spin-off, The Amanda Show.
In one Sketch that has emerged on social media, Schneider sits fully clothed in a hot tub with a teenage Bynes, who appears to be wearing a bathing suit. He is billed as the executive producer and head writer of Amanda’s show, joking that he wrote “the whole conversation we’re having right now.” Bynes asks him for a raise. He said no. They are then handed two plates of spaghetti, which they proceed to eat in the jacuzzi while the waiters dance behind them.
Thompson, who worked as an editor at Everything that, recalled the close relationship between Bynes and Schneider in Silence on set.
“I definitely saw Amanda very physically close to Dan,” he said, according to Us weekly. “There were many times I saw Amanda sitting behind him hugging him or giving him a neck massage. Dan and Amanda had a close relationship. “I didn’t think of anything different than that.”
Regarding the hot tub parody, Thompson admitted that the scene was “a little strange.”
A source close to Schneider previously addressed the massage allegations, saying Well-informed person“[Schneider] he regrets having asked someone [for a massage] and agrees that it was inappropriate, even though it only occurred in public settings.”
Scheider and Bynes split after he allegedly tried to help her emancipate herself from her parents while she was starring in What I like about youaccording to journalist Kate Taylor.
“You could argue that he was trying to help Amanda. But unfortunately for Dan, this goes to court and completely fails,” Taylor said. “Due to Dan’s involvement in this plan to emancipate Amanda, this creates a huge pide between Amanda’s parents and Dan Schneider.”
Before Silence on set debut, Schneider’s spokesperson issued a statement.
“Dan cared about the children in his programs even when, unfortunately, sometimes their own families did not. “He understood what they were going through and was his biggest supporter,” the statement said, according to Us weekly. “The fact is that many of the children in these programs find themselves in the untenable position of becoming the breadwinner for their family and the pressure that comes with that.”
He continued: “Add to that the difficulties of growing up and having to do so in the spotlight while doing a demanding job, all when you were a child. That’s why there are many levels of standards, executives, lawyers, teachers and parents everywhere, at all times, in every setting, every day. “However, it’s still a tough place to be a kid and no one knew that better than Dan.”
