Riding Lyft is one of the easiest ways to get to your destination. The ride is useful when you are in a hurry or need to make some stops on the way to your destination. You can take different rides on Lyft, including one-way rides and round-trip rides, although round-trip rides are complicated.

The app has an additional stopover feature that helps you run errands before reaching your final destination. However, you should inform your passenger in advance if you are going to different places. This feature comes in handy when you need to pick up a friend on the way to an event.

How to add a stop on Lyft on an Android
If you’re using Android, adding a Lyft stop is easy. Follow the steps below after installing it on your Android phone.
- Launch the application.

- Type your destination in the “Search destination” box.

- Tap the “+” icon in the “Search destination” box.

- Enter your last destination in the “End” section.

- Choose your preferred ride by price or estimated arrival time and tap the “Select Lyft” button.

If you change your mind about making the extra stop, you can delete it by tapping and selecting “Delete Stop.”
Also, before you finish typing the address, the app will give you a list containing the exact address and similar places. Options are useful because sometimes you are not sure of the exact direction of your destination.
Understand that there will be similar destinations, especially if they locate other locations in the city. Then, choose the exact location you’re going to in the Lyft app.
How to add multiple stops
It’s not often that a ridesharing app lets you choose one stop, let alone several, on the way to your destination.
The multi-stop feature on Lyft comes in handy when you need to run an errand on the way to your final destination or if you want to drop off or pick up someone.
Unfortunately, Lyft does not allow users to set more than two stops. You can only specify a final destination and a stop along the way.
The good news is that you can add a stop to your route even after the Lyft driver picks you up. So, there is some flexibility.
However, the company encourages passengers to set expectations by agreeing on wait times before highlighting the first stop. Additionally, if you will spend more than 10 minutes at a stop, you will need to cancel the trip and request another one when you are ready.
Uber might be a better alternative if you want to make two extra stops before reaching your destination.
How to schedule stops
Scheduling a ride in advance is a great way to ensure you get a reasonable rate and aren’t late for an appointment.
Even better, you can also add a stop to a scheduled trip. That is how:
- Launch the application.

- Type your destination in the “Search destination” box.

- Enter your destination in the “End” section.

- Select the driver you want.

- Tap the “Schedule” or “Calendar” icon in the bottom right corner.

- Set your pickup time and date.

- Press “Set Pickup Time”.

- Select the “Confirm pickup” button.

- Tap the “Schedule” button.

How to Select a Lyft Roundtrip Ride
If you want to run a quick errand and get back home, you can request a round-trip ride with Lyft. That is how.
- Launch the Lyft app.

- Type your destination in the “Search destination” box.

- Press the “+” icon to add a new stop for your second destination.

- Enter your pickup address in the “End” bar and request your ride.

This will tell the driver to take you to a specific location and take you back. However, you should talk to the driver about how much time you need to spend at your first stop. Generally, Lyft drivers can wait up to 10 minutes, but it’s important to talk to them beforehand and come to an agreement.
Limitations of Lyft’s Extra Stop Feature
Lyft allows you to add a stop to your final destination, but only if you use designated rides. If you choose the rideshare option, you won’t be able to add a stop or change your final destination.
However, you can add a stop to your destination if you are traveling by Standard Lyft, Lyft Lux, or Lyft XL. If you use Lyft Line, this feature will not be available to you. This means you can stop in the middle of your destination to pick up someone or grab a bite to eat.
Enjoy a ride with Lyft
With so many ride-sharing apps available, it can be difficult to say which one is best. But that just means you have tons of options when you need a ride. Nothing stops you from creating an account for every ridesharing app available in your area.
