How to delete all your tweets by date

Is your Twitter cluttered with years of carefree thought exchange? Sometimes it’s fun to look at old Tweets, but other times it’s probably best to destroy all evidence of an embarrassing past. But how can you even find that poorly worded response you sent someone last Thanksgiving?

Twitter doesn’t exactly make it easy to navigate through our own files. Scrolling back through your profile to delete inpidual tweets from a specific date doesn’t seem realistic when you have thousands of entries to browse. Deleting your tweets by date range is a much more productive solution – here’s how to do it.

Search manually

Are you looking for tweets from a particular day or month? Twitter’s advanced search feature can help you locate these entries. Once you have filtered the desired content, you can delete the tweets one by one.

Twitter doesn’t offer mass deletion yet, but as long as we’re not talking about a massive number of tweets, it won’t take long to delete them this way. Follow these steps:

1. Gonna Twitter and log in to your account.
   
2. Look for the search bar in the upper right corner of the screen.
   
3. Enter the appropriate search filters:
   
4. Make sure only tweets made by you appear using a username filter that follows this pattern:
   from:@username
   
5. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of a tweet.
   
6. Select “Delete” to delete the tweet.
   
7. Confirm the deletion in the pop-up window.
   
8. Rinse and repeat for all the tweets that the search returned.

You can also access these advanced search features directly once you are already on a search page.

1. Click on the three-dot menu located next to the search bar.
   
2. Select “Advanced Search.”
   
3. Enter your ID in the appropriate field under “Accounts.”
   
4. Set the period to “Dates”.
   
5. Add more filters if you want and press “Search.”
   

This is a quick and easy solution if you only want to delete a couple of tweets. If you’re deleting entire months or years of history, you may want to employ a Twitter management tool for the task.

Use a Twitter management tool

Third-party tools can help you get the most out of Twitter. Not only do they provide insight into metrics that Twitter doesn’t give you, but they can also be helpful when you need to manage your content precisely.

For example, you can use a tool like Circleboom to filter and remove unwanted Tweets, Retweets, and Replies, regardless of their age. Is that how it works:

1. Visit circle website and press “Start”.
   
2. Select “Twitter Management” from the drop-down menu.
   
3. Sign up for a Circleboom account and connect your Twitter to the app.
   

There are two ways to delete tweets by date in Circleboom:

• Delete Recent Tweets – A quick solution to delete tweets from a specific date that doesn’t require your Twitter archive to complete the task. However, this tool can only access your last 3200 tweets.
• Delete your history: A comprehensive solution that can delete a large amount of data from a specific period at a time. However, you must first download your Twitter file for this method.

We will analyze both methods below.

Delete tweets by date

Find the tweets you posted on a particular day and delete them with a few clicks. This is the process to get started:

1. Once you are logged in to your Circleboom account.
2. Look for the “Delete Latest Tweets” option in your dashboard. Click the “Delete your old tweets” button below.
   
3. The website will load your tweets in a few seconds.
   
4. Look for the search bar on the right side of the screen.
   
5. Enter the date from which you want to delete the tweets. The format must be the following: DD/MM/YYYY.
   
6. Press “Enter” and the app will filter your tweets.
   
7. Check the boxes next to the tweets you want to delete and click the “Delete Selected” button. Alternatively, you can delete all tweets by clicking “Delete all tweets.”
   
8. Confirm your choice and say goodbye to your tweets.

Repeat these steps for each day you want to delete and you’re done.

Delete tweets from a time range

Do you want to delete all your tweets between two specific dates? Circleboom has another feature to cover you. With Twitter Archive Eraser, you can filter and delete entries from your entire archive, regardless of their size.

First, you’ll need to get your Twitter files:

1. Open Twitter and click the “More” menu.
   
2. Click “Settings & Support,” then “Settings & Privacy.”
   
3. On the “Your Account” tab, select “Download a file of your data.”
   
4. Request your file and sit back until an email notifies you that your download is ready.
   

Once you have downloaded your file, go to Circleboom and follow the steps below:

1. In your Circleboom dashboard, look for the “Delete Tweet History” option.
2. Click “Delete your old tweets.”
   
3. Press “Start here.”
   
4. Find and upload the “tweet.js” file you downloaded earlier.
   
5. Expand the filters p to access date filters.
   
6. Under “Filter by date,” enter the start and end date between which you want to delete your Tweets, Retweets, and Replies.
   
7. Scroll down and click “Delete my file.”
   
8. Confirm your decision in the pop-up alert and Circleboom will delete the desired tweets.
   

Please note that deletion will also include tweets sent on the start and end dates you entered.

Search and destroy

We may not be able to erase the past, but we can certainly erase our embarrassing tweets about it. Find your tweets from a particular day or period using the methods described above and remove unwanted content that no longer reflects your brand or personality.
