How to transfer a call on a PC

There are two different methods to transfer a call with Ringcentral on a PC. Below we’ll explain the differences between a warm call and a cold call and show you how to make a transfer.

How to transfer a warm call on a PC

A warm call is when you will speak to the person for the first time before transferring the call to them. To transfer a warm call, follow the steps below:

  1. During a live call, click the “Call Actions” button, the icon with the three dots.

  2. In the drop-down menu, click “Transfer.”

  3. A new small window will open. Type the name or phone number of the person you want to transfer the call to in the window at the top of the screen. You can also type the number using the keyboard or click the clock icon to view a list of recent calls.

  4. You will now have three options at the bottom of the box on how to transfer the call. Select “Ask first.”

A cold call is the direct transfer of a call without first speaking to the caller. To transfer a cold call, follow these steps:

A cold call is when you do not need to speak to the person you are transferring to and will put the call directly to them. To transfer a cold call on an iPhone, follow the steps below:

  2. In the drop-down menu, you will see three transfer options. Tap “Transfer.”
  3. A new screen will open. Enter the name or phone number of the person you want to transfer the call to. You can also use the keypad to type the phone number or tap the clock icon to view a list of recent calls.
  4. You have three options on how to transfer the call. For a cold call, tap “Transfer.”
  5. Tap the “Transfer” button, the green circle at the bottom of the screen.

Once you have completed the last step, your part of the call will be disconnected and transferred to the recipient.

How to transfer a call to voicemail

Sometimes you may need to transfer a call directly to someone’s voicemail. Please note that you can only transfer a call to voicemail when the person is in your contact list on the same Ringcentral account as yours.

To transfer a call to voicemail, follow the steps below:

  1. While you’re on a live call, tap the three-dot icon. This is the “Call to Action” button.
  2. In the dropdown menu, there will be three options. Tap “Transfer.”
  3. A new box will open. Enter the name or voicemail phone number of the person you want to transfer the call to. You can also use the keypad to type the phone number or tap the clock icon to view a list of recent calls.
  4. You’ll see three options on how to transfer a call. To transfer to voicemail, tap “To voicemail.”

The call has now been transferred directly to voicemail.
