Born on October 14, 1994, Goff is from Novato, California, and attended Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, California. Growing up a 49ers fan, Goff wears number 16 in honor of the great Joe Montana.
Listed at 6-4 NFL size, Goff did not come out of high school as a true five-star recruit.
He threw for 7,687 yards and 93 touchdowns in three college seasons, enough to make him a four-star recruit. He was ranked 218th overall and 15th among pro-style quarterbacks in the 2013 class. according to 247Sports.

Goff he only had three Division I offerspassing through Boise State and Washington to attend the University of California, Berkeley.
Once he got to college, he only needed three seasons to prove he was ready for the NFL.
Goff broke nearly all of Cal’s passing records as a three-year starter for the Golden Bears, throwing for 12,195 yards and 96 touchdowns. As a junior, he led the Pac-12 with 4,714 passing yards and 43 passing touchdowns, which was also good for third best in the entire NCAA.
He elected to turn pro after that dominant season, and Los Angeles selected him with the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
