Reels have recently received several updates from Instagram, increasing the popularity of the format. Almost all videos will now load in Reels style, whether people want it or not. Additionally, anyone can use your publicly viewable posts (including still photos) in their own Reels, unless you prevent it beforehand.
If your Instagram is all Reels, tap the “Home” icon at the bottom to make sure you’re not in the wrong place. If you’re still stuck, you may have to accept it.
Why does my Instagram feed now have all Reels?
Instagram Reels are short videos that can last up to 60 seconds. This new format opens up a new universe of artistic possibilities and offers artists inventive methods to engage their viewers. Reels give businesses the opportunity to reach a wider audience and even go viral, while also persifying their Instagram feed. This is possible because reels are promoted by Instagram’s algorithm and forced to appear on both explore and reels pages, in addition to appearing on users’ personal feeds.
We’ve compiled a list of possible reasons why reels are popular and why they appear in everyone’s feed.
Designed for fast content

Reels are quick videos and here we are not referring to minutes; We mean seconds! People spend very little time watching television and going to the movies because the modern environment requires less time wasted in queues and advertisements. However, they are still looking for entertainment! Reels, which are the ideal type of entertainment for the next generation of Instagram users, are therefore part of the solution.
Easy to scroll and play instantly
If you’ve ever spent hours browsing apps without choosing a particular video to watch, you know how difficult it can be to make a decision. We would prefer someone else to make the decision for us. The reels are aimed at you, they start automatically and if you don’t feel like watching for some reason, just keep scrolling and a new reel will be waiting for you!
Creative content
In today’s world, the availability of cameras and other tools for creating videos has increased. Nowadays, anyone with a phone can record high-quality clips quickly and easily. You should definitely take this opportunity to let out all your creative energy. The possibilities for creating reels are endless!
How to disable reels on Instagram

Now, Instagram reels cannot be easily disabled. You need to modify your Instagram usage if you want to get rid of Reels. Here are some methods you can use to avoid Instagram Reels.
Access Instagram with a browser
Using Instagram in your browser is the easiest way to stay away from Instagram Reels loops. Instagram Reels are not available in the Instagram browser extension, only in the Instagram app. Any browser, such as Mozilla, Google Chrome or Safari, can be used to log in. Once you are logged in successfully, you will be able to use Instagram without Reels. The Instagram app can offer a faster user experience than the browser. If you don’t get the original app, you can check out the alternative options below.
Use the previous version of Instagram (for Android)
Installing an older version of Instagram on your smartphone is the only method to prevent Instagram Reels from appearing in your newsfeed, as there is no way to remove them within the app. To get an older version of the app, follow these instructions:
- Download Instagram APK file of your required version via mobile browser. This could be complicated. You can find a decent list of APKs here. Spoolless versions start around 150.0.0.

- Then select “Settings” on the home screen or in the application list.

- In the Settings menu, choose the “Security” option. These settings may change depending on Android versions, phone manufacturers and brands, or versions.

- In the next window, select “Install unknown sources”.

- Then, choose “Allow from this source” in the browser you used to download the APK file.

Follow the steps below to prevent the previous version of Instagram you just downloaded from updating:
- Open the Google Play store.

- Go to your profile in the top right (or left) corner and select “App Settings” or “Manage Apps and Devices.”

- Go to the “Manage” tab and select Instagram from the list.

- Select the “Options” icon (three dots) in the upper right corner and deselect “Enable automatic update.”

While your servers can still access the app version of Instagram, this fix should now disable Reels on Instagram. If Instagram makes the version you are using obsolete and forces you to update the application to enjoy the content, you will have no choice but to accept the update.
Unfortunately, installing older versions of a program on an iOS device is a challenge unlike Android. This usually requires you to jailbreak the phone, which is a difficult process with numerous potential problems if you’re not familiar with it.
Instagram Lite
Reels are not yet supported on Instagram Lite. Instagram Lite may soon get this feature, but as of now, nothing has been said about it. You can use Instagram without reels by downloading Instagram Lite, which is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
Don’t stagger through the reels
If you like using Instagram or use it for business daily, you should try accepting the Reels feature. It’s definitely here to stay and there’s nothing you can do about it. Consider finding out how reels work, what makes them popular, and how to use them to market your business. You may be surprised to find that you enjoy a feature that you previously thought was annoying.
