Facebook has been around for over a decade and it’s hard to remember the world before. Everyone is so used to connecting through Facebook; It is the main search tool to find anyone today.
Everyone is so used to having Facebook at their fingertips that most people don’t even bother to log out. But sometimes Facebook logs you out on its own.
When this happens, you might wonder why Facebook did that. There are a few answers to this question and we will go over them in this article.
Cookies
If you’re using Facebook on your computer, you may occasionally log out unexpectedly. That can be quite annoying, right? It may have something to do with the cookies your browser uses to track the sites you visit. Your settings may be automatically set to end your session after a certain period of time. Go ahead and check the cookie settings for the browser you are using.
Compared to other apps (like the ones you use for your bank account), Facebook has a considerably longer active session time. However, Facebook sessions also expire. Additionally, clearing your cache and cookies can help you fix this issue.
Automatic login to Facebook
Automatic login is one of the most useful tools a user can have on the Internet. Writing down all your email and password information each time may be a more secure route, but it is also more time-consuming and tedious. If you’re the only person using your laptop, there’s no reason you shouldn’t opt for automatic login.
The same applies to Facebook. When you log in, you have the option to allow the site to automatically log you in when you return. If you do not select this option, you will be logged out after leaving the site.
More than one person is logged in
Although it doesn’t happen often, if someone else tries to access your Facebook account while you are actively using it, you can be kicked out of that session. Especially if that person is using a different IP address.
Maybe your best friend who isn’t on Facebook has your password and is logged in at the same time. Or someone is trying to hack your account. If the latter is the case, it’s a good time to do something about it.
Go to Facebook’s settings page and under Security & Login you can choose to change your passwords and select to receive alerts for unrecognized logins. You can also use the option of having three to five friends as contacts in case you are so unlucky that you get locked out of your account. It is advisable to take extra precautions when it comes to Facebook and the security of your data.
Facebook failures
Don’t forget that Facebook has more than 2.4 billion active users. It is likely to have bugs and glitches from time to time. You may have gone offline because the site is undergoing maintenance or experiencing other issues.
If Facebook keeps logging you out, even after making sure you’ve cleared your cookies and cache and that no one else is trying to log in, you should try simply logging out and waiting a while. After a while, try logging in again and see if the issue persists.
If you’ve exhausted all options and still can’t use Facebook without constantly getting banned, you can always contact Facebook directly. Gonna Facebook Help Center, select the issue you are experiencing from the drop-down menu and proceed to describe the issue in detail. All you have to do then is submit the form and wait for them to contact you.
Sign out whenever you want
You should be able to log out whenever you want and not when someone or something else decides to log you out. It’s probably smart and healthy to log out of all social media apps from time to time. But of course you have to do it on your own terms.
The most important part is to make sure that no one tries to gain unauthorized access. Everything else can be fixed. Clear your cookies and cache and go ahead and use automatic login if that’s convenient for you.

Can I log in to more than one device at a time?
Yes. Facebook will allow you to log in on multiple devices and stay logged in on those devices at the same time. The way the service works is that you have to log in to the app, on each web browser, and on each device. That said, you can sign in on multiple devices and browsers from multiple locations without Facebook signing out of any of the devices.
How do I know if someone else is logging into my Facebook account?

If you suspect someone is logging in because you have new friends you don’t know, your Facebook Messenger app has messages you didn’t send, or you can’t log in with your password, chances are someone is accessing your account.
If Facebook randomly logs you out, it’s a good idea to change your password. Additionally, as an added precaution, you should also change your email password. If someone logs into your Facebook account with two-factor authentication enabled, they may have also gained access to your email account.
