Besides the Snaps you can send to other users, Stories are the most important aspect of the Snapchat experience. Each story is an image or video that you post publicly to your account and lasts for 24 hours after it is posted. Unfortunately, there is no way to edit a story after you’ve posted it, as you can only share or delete it. However, Snapchat allows you to edit what is called Memory.
What are memories and how to edit them?
Memories consist of all the stories and snapshots you have saved. When you save a post as Memory, you can see it along with other photos and videos on your device’s storage space. Most importantly, you can edit Memories and post them as snaps, stories, or messages to inpiduals. That is how:
- Open Snapchat.

- If you’re not already on the Camera screen, go there by tapping the large circular button at the bottom of the screen.
- To access your Memories, tap the button next to the Shutter button. Alternatively, you can swipe up anywhere on the screen.

- In the Memories menu, choose whether you want to see all the images saved on your device or only a certain group of images, such as only stories or only snapshots.
- Tap the image you want to edit.

- Keep your finger on the screen until a menu appears asking what you would like to do with the image or video.
- In the menu that follows, choose the Edit Snapshot option.

- This will take you to edit mode. Let your imagination run wild!
Note: By choosing Export Snap, you can send it to someone using an app other than Snapchat, while the Send Snap option allows you to easily send it to someone on Snapchat or post it as a story.
Editing options
Obviously, there are many things you can do with your stories. You can trim videos as well as split them. All other options can be used for both videos and photos. Snapchat lets you add filters the same way you would add them on Instagram, by swiping left and right through the collection. A vertical toolbar will also appear on the right side of the screen, allowing you to:
- Write something. You can choose the color and style of the text. You can also open the Type menu by simply touching the screen, as long as you don’t touch an object you created while editing. By touching a text object that you have already created, you can make changes to it.

- Resize or rotate an object. Do this by holding it while using another finger. Swipe in one direction to zoom in or out, or swipe in a circular motion to rotate. This applies to all objects, not just textual ones.

- You can choose a color, but this feature can also serve as an emoji brush, allowing you to put many emojis where you want at once. Apart from this, you can also change the brush size.

- Add a sticker to your snap. In addition to the usual options like recently used stickers, a search option, etc., you can also add a sticker you just created by tapping on the scissors icon. This is also a good way to add a single emoji and modify it.

- Make a sticker with a part of an image of your choice. Do this by selecting an object with the scissors selected. Press and hold to make a selection and release when you’re done.

After releasing the selection, the newly created label will appear on your screen instantly. You can delete it by holding it down and then taking it to the trash that appears later. You can also delete any other objects this way.
- Add up to one URL to your plugin.

- The clock icon allows you to set how long your snapshot stays on the screen once opened. You can assign a limit ranging from one second to ten seconds or simply remove the limit.
Keep taking photos
Since the addition of the Memories feature, Snapchat has become more powerful and easier to use than before. This feature gives you an edge over Instagram as it allows you to easily save images while also offering so much more to do with your uploads.
