Stickers are a fun way to express yourself on social media, whether in a personal or professional setting. Discord offers a limited number of stickers for free users and dozens more for Nitro subscribers. You can even create your own stickers.
In this article, we will show you how to make stickers in Discord.
What are the requirements for uploading stickers?
In order to upload your own 15 sticker pack, your server must reach boost level 1. Additionally, you must be the owner of that server or at least a moderator with permission to use Manage emojis and stickers. Once you get the permissions, you can start uploading.
Note: The default setting only allows you to upload five stickers.
How to make stickers from scratch
This may seem like a long process, but it really isn’t. The more often you make stickers, the easier it will be. You can always create your own image in Adobe Illustrator or Canva. But if you already have an image that you want to use for the label, here’s what you do.
1. Change image size
Discord has specific requirements when it comes to creating stickers. The exact size of the image is 320×320 pixels, so you will need software to adapt it. Adobe Photoshop or GIMP should do the job. When you open the image in the software, use the resize tool to correct the dimensions.
2. Transparency
Discord stickers require a transparent background. The same image editing software will be suitable for this action. Simply select the image background and use the tool to remove it. That way, the subject of the image will be the center of attention.
3. Save the transparent image as a PNG file
This particular format supports transparent images. That’s why you should choose the “Save As” PNG file when you download the image from the editing software. Discord would also accept APNG and Lottie.
4. Upload your sticker to Discord
It’s finally time to use your new sticker on Discord. First upload it to the platform:
- Go to the Discord server.

- Find the smiley face icon in the chat box.

- Click on the label icon that appeared.

- Find the “Add Tag” button.

- Locate the PNG file you just saved after resizing.

- Name your sticker.

- Enter a related emoji.

- Click the “Upload” button.

Note: If you enter a description during the last upload step, everyone will be able to use your sticker.
How to Use Kapwing for Custom Discord Stickers
Kapwing is the best online editor for Discord Stickers. Since you must meet precise requirements when making a sticker, Kapwing offers a template with a transparent background.
- Import files from your computer or use Kapwing’s stock photo and image search.
- Modify the image by adding outlines, shadows, custom fonts, visual filters and many other features this software offers.
- Export your finished decal in a supported format and it will be ready to upload to your server.
How to Animate Custom Stickers in Discord
The easiest way would be to use Kapwing again. If you want your emoji and text to move, here’s what you need to do:
- Upload your image and text to Kapwing Studio.

- Select which parts you want to customize.

- Look for the “Animate” option on the right side tab.

- Choose the style you like best and it will be applied instantly.

The final product can be used as an emoji due to the format. Read on to see how to turn it into a sticker.
Please note that there are eight different styles to animate your sticker/emoji segments:
- Drop: The selected item is displayed from the text box.
- Flickering: Your sticker will flicker slightly like a candle flame until it stays in one place.
- Fade: Opacity will appear from 0 to 100
- Pop: The text becomes so large that it doesn’t fit in the text box, but in the end it stays in place.
- Reveal and Clear: Content scrolls back and forth, while Clear also adds some colors.
- Vibrate: Makes the text box vibrate when the text appears on the screen.
- Hue Rotation: Change the color of text in tone values, while it appears on the screen
Please note that your finished animated emoji must be exported as a GIF. It should be a maximum of 256 kb, which means it can be up to three seconds long and be 100 pixels wide and high.
Turn animated emoji into a sticker
All you need to do is convert your GIF to APNG format. There are several online tools for this purpose, such as Convert. When you convert it, you can upload the APNG file to your server and start using it with your friends.
Note: If you simply upload an APNG file to the chat box, it may not be displayed.
- Go to your “Server Settings”.

- Click “Stickers.”

- Open the “Upload” window.

Why is my custom sticker looking blurry?
Animated stickers may stretch if used on a mobile device, but look fine on Windows or iOS. This is due to poor formatting during the sticker creation process. To avoid this, always use a 1:1 ratio and the exact image size of 320×320. This way, your stickers will look sharp on all devices.
How to edit or delete a Discord sticker
You’ve uploaded a custom sticker, but you may decide to make some adjustments later. Alternatively, you may want to delete the file if you no longer want to use it.
Here’s how to do both:
- Open Discord.

- Find the Discord server you want to edit/delete.

- Go to “Server Settings”.

- Click “Label.”

- Hover over your sticker with your mouse.

- Click on the pencil symbol if you want to edit your sticker. Choose the “X” command if you want to delete the file.

What to do if someone steals your sticker pack
If someone steals your stickers, you should do the following:
- Submit a request on the official Discord site.

- Look for “Submit a DMCA Takedown Request” from the drop-down menu.

- Enter your email address and fill out the form to provide all the necessary information.

- Confirm that the content you are reporting is actually yours; If you violate Discord’s Copyright Policy, your account will be terminated.

- Attach any relevant additional files.

- Send the application.
